REVIEW: MONTAGNE JEUNESSE BLACK SEAWEED PEEL OFF MASQUE

Hello everyone!
I hope you find this review helpful!
I bought this mask yesterday from Boots (along with two other masks, see the previous post here) at the very inexpensive price of 66p. These masks usually retail for £1.

This mask is described on the back as 'a seaside detox (mask) to cleanse deeply and peel off dirt and grease weekly'. It is also described to contain 'chopped black Laver Seaweed (from the Welsh seaside) and crushed Sea Buckthom berries' - how exotic, eh?

I used this mask right after I had removed all my makeup and washed my face with my regular facial soap. I cut the top of the packet off and squeezed out the product and applied quite a thin layer to my face.

The first thing I noticed about this mask was how sticky it was once it was on the skin which made it quite difficult to spread out.

Another thing that I noticed was the smell. For me it wasn't unpleasant..I just couldn't really describe how it smelled. If you are sensitive to fragrances, I'd give this mask a miss because the scent does linger and you will be able to smell it whilst it's on your face.

Here's what my face looked like after applying a single, thin layer:

The back of the sachet states to wait around 15-20 minutes, but I had it on for probably about half an hour since I was busy doing things and kind of forgot about it.

When I finally was able to sit down and focus on the mask, I found it quite difficult to peel it off. I think partly why I had so much difficulty was because my application was rather uneven and very thin. I think if you're using a peel off mask for the first time, definitely be generous with the application of the product as I feel it will be easier for you once it's time to remove it.

I spent about half an hour peeling the mask off because I was left with a lot of very thin patches on my cheeks and sides of my face, which was really hard to remove.

Here is a picture after I (finally) removed the mask:

As you can see my skin isn't really that much brighter, but I can tell you it did feel a lot softer than before I applied the mask. My skin is usually quite oily, and I am acne prone (hence the scars)However, I do want to point out that I applied my toner and other skincare products after and my cheeks felt very sore, probably because of how I pretty much had to scratch the remaining residue off my face.

Aside from the minor cons, I do recommend this mask if you would like to try out peel off masks and for the price, you can't really go wrong. I will just advise people to be generous with how much you put on so that you won't be scratching and irritating your skin.

Thank you for reading this incredibly long review, I hope this helped!

Until then,

Chelli
